The railway industry today uses mainly monoblock wheels (one-piece). The monoblock wheels supersede the use of the rimmed (bose) wheels. The reason for this is their lower cost of manufacture, simple construction and high driving safety.
Monoblock wheels are made of ingots cut to the appropriate length by hot forging, first free and then die forging. Forging takes place at a temperature of about 850°C. The final shape of the rim profile is obtained by machining. For turning wheels, special vertical lathes are used for machining large workpieces.
Via Cargo has been a licensed importer of monoblock wheels for the Polish market since 2010. We work closely with a wheel manufacturer, the Russian company Vyksa Steel Works. In consultation with colleagues from Russia, we are involved in the certification and introduction of the next wheel types. We participate in certification processes and organize examinations and tests of wheels in licensed research centers in Poland and abroad.
We sell wheels directly to industry customers in Poland and abroad (wagon factories, repair plants, companies managing the fleet of own wagons, workshops).
We currently offer the following types of wheels:
• 110
• 108
• VK01
• VK02
• BA005
• BA004
Our offer expands as we obtain further certificates.
